Default Are 3.73s the best for performance and mileage?

I own a 00 gt 5speed and need to upgrade the stock gears and I was planning on getting the ford racing 3.73s but how good are their performance and gas mileage?

describe in detail your driving habits, distances, etc. Gas mileage should not suffer noticably if your drivng stays the same. Also consider 3.90s

I get 19mpg and I try to run it smooth going 30 miles to work or school and back. I dont want to lose more than 2 mpg otherwise I will wait till I'm finished with school.

Here's an easy answer.Worse than stock gears but better than 3:90's to 4:10's . You really won't see a difference if you drive like most of us here...lol!

19 mpg kinda suck. Maybe you should check your filter or maybe get a CAI, like a K&N. I really like my 3:73s, going 70 mph I only turn around 150 more rpm. I also picked up 2 tenths in the 1/8 mile over my stock 3:27s.

You will get better results with 4.10's or 4.30's if you are staying N/A. Plenty of people are getting 18 pg city and 24 mpg highway with 4.30's.
