Default Tire pressure specs?

I just got my '96 GT and got some new tires on it from the dealer. Sumic GT50's are what they're called.

I was just wondering what the car's tire pressures should be? There are no stickers on the car anywhere that give the specs.

If anyone knows them, just let me know.

Thanks.

In the glove box of my 97 it has a sticker that says for the 245/45/17 tires they should be set at 30 psi cold. Cold meaning in a shaded area before you drive the car at all.

Look on the side wall of the tire, you will find min/max air pressure rating. What the tire maker says is what matters, not the car maker.

Read this and other tech articles about tire inflation from tire rack. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...vs_dryperf.jsp

You must go with what the car manufacturer says for tire pressure. The PSI listed on the sidewall is the max press. for the max. load the tire can handle. If you use that pressure, you will be changing tires very often. With replacement tires, go with the carmaker's recomendation, then look at how the tires are wearing over time and adjust as necessary.

How in the world would the company that built the car know what tires you got on it now? Are you saying that no matter what tire you put on your car it gets the same pressure? If so you are wrong. If I miss understood I am sorry.

That's why I said you have to check the wear patterns after driving on them for awhile.

Regarding tire PSI, the same way the tire manufacturer would know the weight of the car that you are putting their tires on....they wouldnt. If you are re-installing the same size tire as the OEM's, go with the vehicle spec. If changing tire size then the correct thing to do is consult the RMA's load and inflation data table. This is available online for quick reference. All you need to know is the weight of your vehicle and the size tire you have or are putting on it.
