i just installed a 02 engine in my 96 gt. when i try to start the car up it turns over about 4 to 5 times before it fires up after it fires the engine starts to shake a little, but when you run the car it runs fine i change the iac valve but didnt fix anything, does anyone any advice on what to check or what it could be, i used the pink injectors that came with the 02 engine instead of the yellow injectors that were on the 96 motor dont know if they are any diffrent
Did you replace the 96 computer with the '02 one? If you didn't I would recommend that. If you have then try these: Start with putting a vacuum gage on the intake manifold, it should be over 15 inches vacuum. If that checks out, put a voltmeter on the TPS leads, just stick the leads right through the insulation. One of them should read 4.9-5.0 VDC at idle. One should read .97-1.0 VDC and one should read 0 ( all taken with throttle in the idle position ) . If all that checks out, put a timing light on it and make sure your timing numbers aren't all jacked up. One more thing, if you're still running the 96 computer, check and make sure the plug wires match the firing order.

i used my old tps sensor that was attached on to my throtle body and installed it on the new engine it was working fine when i had it on my 96 engine, the motor runs real strong when i drive it but when its at idle that when it starts to tremble
just b/c the tps worked on your old car that doesnt mean it is tuned correctly now. When you re-installed it on the pi engine, the sensor could have moved and it may night be in tune anymore.... you may still wanna check it.
Have you replaced the EGR valve?? It may just be stuck in the open position.

i have a friend who just put a 350 in a firebird but he left the 305 computer in it. it was very shaky at idle just like you described, but when he switched the computers it ran fine. look on ebay for a computer.
i dont think its the computer also, the olny prolem i have is that as soon as i connect the egr vacum line to the egr the car runs crapy, i got a new egr, new iac, checked all vacum lines and everything seems ok. the vacum line is still sucking up too much air threw the egr at idle and i think thats the problem, so i need to find a way to regulate this if there is a way
Are you sure the EGR vacuum line is connected in the right place. If I'm not mistaken there are 2 major places where vacuum lines come from, the intake manifold and somewhere near the throttle body. Maybe swapping it to the other one would help.

BlueStreak has it right, just a few more thoughts...
Your 96 computer can run your 02 motor, but you need to have it reflashed to update to the new firmware or put in a performance chip (SCT 4 bank my advice). If you can lay hands on the 02 computer, that would work as well.
Odds are that the TPS (which is ONE DELICATE little mother) is also a problem. Lots of experienced stang techs routinely replace these things even if only swapping in a new throttle body. If the new chip/computer doesn't solve things, look at the TPS.
The Mass Air units are also slightly different - 2002 had lots of subtle improvements over prior years. I suspect yours will do fine so long as you haven't modded the 02 motor much.
