I have ordered a "retro" Hurst style "T" hand grip shifter handle for my 5 speed '03 Mustang GT. It has the premium package with the stock leather shifter handle. How do I remove the stock leather shifter "knob" without damaging it or the leather boot, etc.? I have not tried to pry the boot down to see if there is a lock nut for fear of breaking the internal ring that holds it up flush to the knob. I read somewhere that there is NO lock nut, and I just, using a fair amount of elbow torque, unscrew the existing stock leather knob by hand power, and replace it with the new "T" handle. Anyone know for sure?
