Default New plugs in my 2000

I'm putting new plugs in my 2000. You must remove the fuel rails to get at the plugs. Anything special I should know before take on this job?

Yes the rails are screwed in to the intake, but the plugs sit right below the rails. In photo it may look off set. I was only worried about unseating the rails from the injectors, and any problems that comes with that. Also, how much fuel spillage can I expect? Thanks

ok that one i can help with.. no problems really in the trunk there should be a manual fuel shutoff switch... i think on the left side behind the carpet.. if you flip that, the start the car, it will run out of gas and then you can pull the rail with no gas loss really... when you pull it, make sure the o-rings come with it.. check the o-rings for cracks.. with a 2000 i doubt it... then just put a little lithium grease on the o-rings and push it back in.... then flip the switch back, turn the key to on (not start the car), and on the fuel rail depress the pressure valve until fuel comes out.. .might want a rag around it.. now that you are primed, start it up.

Also, with the plug wires, im sure you know.. .one at a time! lol

yes the fuel shutoff is on the drivers side on the rear of the car,
don't forget to reset it when the job is done.

I have never had to remove my fuel rails to change my plugs and wires on my 4.6 SOHC.

I still dont understand....why do you need to take them off?
I know my plugs are right under my rails as well but i use an extension with the plug puller. I know the plugs are in at an angle so you dont have to remove the rails.
I have never had a problem.

Did you change the plugs yet?

97 MGT, the new pony's have coil on plug technology. The plugs are on the intake manifold next to the injector. The coil is right on top of the plug, so there are no hight tension plug wires. No more faulty plug wires, to remove the coil from the plug you have to remove the fuel rail, because it is in line with the plugs.

oh wow....I had NO idea they were like that. It is a good idea if you think about it. Just a little hassle. Well, both ways have their ups and downs.
Thanks for informing me
