I recently bought a 99 GT Conv, 5 spd, and am trying to change the fuel filter. After removing the clamps and clips, how do you get the fuel lines out of the filter?? Pulling on them doesn't do anything! The clips appear to be U shaped, and the fittings on the ends of the fuel lines are metal. Any help will be much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

You still need the Ford Fuel Line Disconnect Tool. It's under $10 at your local auto parts store.

You are not alone. I am having the same problem. Glad I found the site and this topic.

Pop the gas cap before you rip out the filter. This'll relieve some of the pressure (pressurized system ya know).

Also, don't forget to open wide the eyes, ears, nose and mouth to capture as much leaking fluid as possible. In other words, fluid will flow, so be prepared to mop up the mess.

There is a little plastic tool you can buy at any parts store for around $5. I recommend NAPA, but I'm biased.
