I visited my local ford shop todat and i was told headetrs are a bad idea, because they are more restrictive than the oem. Is this true andif so what do i do? I went to the track on Sunday and i beat all the normal gt's and those imports but i got sucked up by a wrx sti and a ws6 i would like to know what mods i can get to put me over the top of these cars. I'm tired of getting beat by them ooh and I also have another nemisis, the srt4's I have beat some but others have come back to beat me in the end, my car is awesome off the line but by third im starting to lse it, please gimmie some help.
First off any aftermarket long tube header would be a great modification. The stock one's are very restricted. Don't listen to them. Secondly, we need to know all the mods you already have to be able to tell you what to do next.

Their wrong about that, most aftermarket headers will flow better than the OEM pieces but from what I understand they dont gain you alot more ponies and they are hard to install. (on the 4.6 that is)
Also you might want to consider getting a set of gears. That will give you an even better advantage off the line.
Gears would help out some. After 3.73s I picked up 2 tenths in the 1/8. If your looking for a big boost then a 75 or 100 shot of notros would put you in the back seat for sure.

You may want to look at a 75mm throttle body/intake plenum combination as well as the gears. Headers really not fun to install while motor in car and not worth doing on a N/A car unless quality mid-lengths or long tubes. Some cams (Comp 262/270AH?) might be better starting point. Can also consider some weight reduction if only for strip (spare tire, back seat, etc.) or, more permanently, battery relocation.

Long tubes are a great way to go either forced induction or NA. Its not that hard of an install, just time consuming if you dont have a lift or a pit. The stock exhaust manifolds are VERY restrictive.
