Default Diablo Sport Predator Tuner Question

Hey, i purchased a Diablo Sport predator tuner cuz i had my MIL on due to a O/R exhaust and didnt want to spend the money to buy the MIL Eliminators and have to deal with reprogramming my chip when i get my gears. So i purchased the Predator and loaded the diablo performance tune it had on it, and turned off all the MIL things along with speed limiters and what not. Now i have a few more things i wanted to check out, with this tool you can change the spark, and timing, and WOT Fuel

i wanted to know if there are changes you can make to this inorder to extract some more power.

this is the list of things that can be done to the car with the Predator tuner

Dual timing adjustment points (2000-4000 RPM / 4000-7000 RPM)
Timing table (+10% / -40%)
Dual fuel adjustment points (2000-4000 RPM / 4000-7000 RPM)
Fuel table (+40% / -15%)
Idle (+/- 20%)
On/Off switch for Traction Control
Raise Speed Limiter
Rev Limiter
Re-Calibrate Speedometer for Gear and Tire Size Changes
WOT Shift Pressure
Part throttle shift firmness
RPM Shift Points
Torque Modulation (for better shift feel)
Cooling Fan ON/OFF Temperatures
Rear Oxygen sensor disable (use for off-road vehicles only)
Disable EGR (use for off-road vehicles only)
All of these parameters can be adjusted on the DiabloSport tune and/or the factory tune

thanks

Default Be Careful

The packaged Diablo performanc tune is where you should stop unless you have ready access to a dyno to test your results. Further advancing timing and tweaking the fuel/air mixture without being able to closely monitor the changes can result in big problems.

I have the Diablo tune on my 02 GT and it works well. It requires I run good quality premium fuel, of course, but it has been trouble free so far, and yielded a nice seat of the pants increase in performance.

Be warned. If you monkey with the performance tune parameters, you can get in trouble - detonation is a motor-killer.

As for the list of mods the Predator can do, I recommend you leave the rev limiter alone (unless you do some drastic mods to the car, your motor stops producing additional power before the limiter cuts in anyway). It can save your ass if your foot slips...

The top speed limiter is factory set to match your tires. Unless you upgrade to a higher speed rated tire, don't change this setting.

Turn off the traction control by all means if its summer or you live in the deep south like I do. If you're looking at snow on the ground, turn it back on - again, it might help save your butt. The good thing about the tuner is that you're in control...

Finally, be advised that your car could use some O2 data to keep the car running smoothly. Lots of folks disable 2 of the 4 sensors (usually the back 2), keeping the front 2 working to feed data to the computer. This often involves adding harness extensions to reach the new sensor locaions on the X or H pipe (extensions cost about $29 each).

triple,

please explain further...I dont quite understand the harness extension. are you saying you want to plug the harness for the front sensors into the back sensors?

I have a bassani hi-flo cat x-pipe but still got ox sensor codes...was thinking of getting mil eliminators for the rear sensors. I acutally built the mil eliminators from capicator / resistor from RS 2 years ago but recently got a code so my sodering musta broke...anyway I was thinking of getting the tuner and wondered if i could solve my problem without the nice plug in mil eliminators.

please advise

Thanks,

Emery

We used mil. eleminators for the front two, and the Predator to cure the back two. I have had no problems at all. Hope this helps.

Default front

Some aftermarket exhaust system combos (headers, xpipes, etc) don't position the sensor locations within reach of the stock harness, so you have to add an extension to reach. This is usually just the front 2 sensors. Your bassani (I have the exact same item) usually doesn't have this problem (I just helped a MCA buddy install a MAC unit with long tube headers, and we had to use extensions - they were just out of reach).

I live in an area where we undergo regular emissions testing - and bypassing all 4 sensors runs up a red flag to an alert tester...

The tuner will allow you to avoid eliminators (though the home-made eliminators sound fun).
