well my car is fixed!!!!!!!! I found out it was the TPS (throttle posission sensor). my idel still isnt the way I want it to be, but its a hell of alot better now with this new TPS!!! ya i'm tryin to save up for a new IAC but $200 is hard to come by with gas prices so high! thanx again for your help guys...what would happen if I shot the carb cleaner in the IAC while the parts still installed on the car? I've done that 2-3 times now...

I just replaced mine last week, its $50 bucks now at autozone,
To clean if you must, you have to take off and spray into both ends
once you put it back on whats left inside will find its way through the IAC, But yes I would reccomend replacing it, will save time and frustration later on...

My car started to idle a little rough after they switched to ethanol. Say for instance, if I am in line to get something to eat the revs will raise and lower quickly like my car is about to die. I just thought that I had some bad gas, but it never went away. I guess it is time to get dirty and change out the IAC and see if that fixes it. Also if the IAC is going bad, do you smell a little bit of gas mixed with exhaust?

It's possible that you may smell a bit of gas in the exhaust if the IAC is going bad. Don't worry about getting too dirty, it's 3 screws and an electrical connector to change it.

Default New guy here...

Hows it goin guys... I have a question about this stumbling or from what my research has come to show me, misfire. I have a 01 GT, had a fuel flush done and changed the spark plugs to autolite platinum with factory gap. I'm getting a sort of putt putt stall when i am taking off from a red light. It goes away though, say around 60 mph....I am totally lost on this one, could it be the IAC??????

I have a 01 GT. My car does not hold an idle after it rains. It rained 2 days ago and I still can't get my car started. I get it to run if I give it some gas, but the minute I let off the gas pedal, the car dies. Just cleaned the MAF sensor and it did not help. Could this be a IAC valve? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Most likely if it was the IAC it would be acting up while you are sitting at the redlight not just when u go to move. Is it acting up at idle or is it idling fine? Could be a bad coil plug or maybe a clogged EGR valve.

Maybe a fouled injector also.

First all guys, I just want to say hello. This is my first day joining and I am starting out with an issue to boot. I have a 2000 gt convertible with 56,000 miles. started getting this knocking out of the blue that seems to go away when I accelerate but comes back when I release or throttle down. I got an oil change to see if it would go away but it is still there. Could it be the low grade gas? I am about ready to take it to the dealer.

my 99 has this problem everyonce and a while, more when it's cold...when i put the clutch in the revs will dip all the way down to 500, and it will stall...i wonder if that's just from the IAC or if it could be something worse

Would the IAC cause the Check Engine light to come on? When I reset the light it stays off for about a week. The Idle stumbles and it dies once in a while when coasting to a stop with the clutch in. When I ran codes, I got both banks running lean. My car is a 98 GT 5speed. It only has 53K miles on it.
