My CE light never came on and from what i read from everybody else theirs did not come either when the IAC went bad. Maybe yours is bad 02 sensors??

Have you guys heard these symptoms? I have the same problem with my 2000 GT. It runs as long as I give it gas, but dies the second I let off. One weird thing, I removed my air filter and drove it for a day, and it was fixed for few weeks. When I would start it, I would give it gas and then there was a small pop(?) that sounded like a vacuum gate closing or something(making that up mostly...) and then it ran fine, with the filter installed. Then a couple of days ago, it rained hard, and now is not working again, and removing the filter didn't work this time...?

I see a lot of talk about the IAC valve being the center of 2V problems. Well I had the same thing going on with my car and I replaced the IAC. It didn't do anything. So I then went on to replace the EGR valve and the PCV valve and it was the EGR that caused all that headache so please help these people out and tell them that it might not be the IAC and it could be one of those 3 things causing this idle. Also a free-flowing exhaust may shorten the life of the valves as well. It's causing them to play harder and especially move these valves into spots of the housing they've never been. Just replace all 3 of those if you have these symptoms.

Yes the EGR valve can become clogged too and cause problems. This is just a beginning step for people trouble shooting a bad idle because the IAC likes to just crap out on these cars and there were too many threads about this so i made a sticky. My egr was clogged to but that caused surging when on slight throttle but did not effect my idle. Once i deleted it all hesitation and surging ceased. But thanks for the info, thats what this site is all about!

I just bought both EGR and IAC valves. I will be installing them as soon as my new injectors get here, damn UPS. Here is a shot of the IAC on a 4v.

Did you replace the sensor or the valve?

Had same problem with low stumbling idle. Mainly when using the window defogger, which uses the AC system. Replaced the IAC, no fix. Just replaced the TPS (throttle position sensor) and now it not only doesn't stumble at idle but idles at 1300-1500 rpms. Fixed one problem and got a new one. Can I just adjust the set screw on the throttle linkage or is there something I need to do with the CPU.

Another question is what should the idle be?
I never really paid attention to what it was before.
Today I'm going to try and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 20 minutes and see if that resets my idle.
Thanks in advance.

All the time? or on startup?

Did you disconnect the battery?

My Cobra idles at 600 according to the MSD window switch and code reader, however my tach says 800. Factory tachs suck!

Well it worked unil yesterday.
After I reconnected the battery I drove it around for 15 minutes and
every thing was good.
Then yesterday morning it started stumbling again.
So after work I disconnected the Neg Term on the battery for 1 hour.
Then drove it for 15 minutes. Again everything was good.
Am I missing something or am I going to have to keep resetting the
computer every two weeks?

If you have an aftermarket CAI, you might try rotating the MAF in 90 degree increments . ..
