Default Hawk brake pad warranty

Well I bought front and rear powerslot rotors and hawk brake pads and now 6 months later i have a deep groove on my front left rotor all the way around the rotor right in the middle of the contact track of the pad, a mechanic friend said that it's most likely a stud in the pad that wasn't cut right and it's what's grooving my rotor and that hawk should replace the pad and the rotor... anyone know what I should do?

edit: also when i tap the break's lightly it makes a slight squeel but doesn't make the noise when i press the brakes hard

Hell yeah, take the caliper off and get a good look at the face of the pad. If there's a stud sticking through further than the squealer strip is sticking out, they should most definitely replace it. Make sure you get some good high quality pics of the brake pad surface and rotor to send to Hawk before you send in the rotor and pads. Ask them to replace both sets of front pads, you don't want to replace one set and not the other.

Hi performance pads create more wear than oem ones.

BUT they should still not eat thru rotors like that! And definitely not only on one spot!
I can't tell, but I would say that you caught a pad with a non uniform compound - more metal in the pad where the groove is.

How does the other rotor look like; or the other side of the same rotor?
