Just traded my 2001 v6 for an 03 GT. First thing I did was try to fit my old CAI from the 6 into it....doesn't fit. However I took the mesh screen out before I put back the stock intake. I plan to get a K&N air filter for now till I can get the CAI. My question is, when I remove screen and put K&N filter in, should I disconnect the battery to reset computer? Right now, my car idles a little strange, I'm guessing from the extra air it is getting, it is running lean. Thanks.
Ok, I'll do that. Thanks. Another quick question for ya. When I get the CAI, what other things need to be done. With my V6, all I needed to do was disconnect the battery for 15 mins Because I got short bursts of air every 15-20 seconds while driving, I had to reset the computer. Is the GT similar?
Put the screen back in. The car is tuned to have the screen in place. By the way, your compression ratio is 9.74:1...
Wait you were the one telling me that u left yours out when u had the FIPK N/A and no problems at all. I left mine out with the FIPK for about 6k now and no problems.

I put it back and noticed that without it, there is a huge gap between the filter housing and the MAF sensor. So it is probably a good idea to leave it in anyway till I get the CAI. For now, I will still get a K&N filter for it.

Yes prolly so with the stock housing, if u get the FIPK it fits perfect.

Yes, I did, but if he is having an issue with the car, he needs to put the screen back in. Some cars accept it better then others. The screen straightens the air before it goes into the MAF. My car ran great without it. Understand?
Also, since you say that there is a gap in it, there may be a problem with a leak of some sort... Meaning your car isn't getting an accurate reading.

True dat. I guess his real problem was the gap when he removed the screen on the stock intake tube. Remove it on the FIPK tube like the instructions say and with mine and mana's experience u shouldnt have any problems.:thumbsup

I have a C&L grafted into my BBK CAI. I sandwiched a window screen between two cardboard gaskets. No idle issues or flat spots in my dyno graphs. Put it back in if you have a CAI.
I have a JLT ram air intake for my 1998 cobra............i took the screen out..........there really isnt anyway for it to put it back in the way the kit is made. If there was a problem leaving it out would i have my check engine light on or something or have idle problems? Dont have any of that so far.
