Default fast idle at cold start

hello,, my 06 gt when i start it the first time in the morning, revs up to about 2000 or so and then after 5-10 seconds it calms down to the idle it is suppose to idle at. my concern is what does that do to the motor when cold as far as wear when cold. i guess i dont like that fast idle when i start it. i am old school,i am used to starting cars at the lowest idle untill at least the oil wakes up and cerculates though the mill. doe anyone else have this idle situation? do you think its a bad thing as far as wear?? let me know please! jj.

All computer controlled cars do that. My '04 does it, my '01 interceptor does it. I know what you mean about wanting a low idle when cold. I would say that it does cause more wear than if it started and idled at 500rpm, but, it is designed that way from the factory, and I don't think there is much you can do about it. I don't like it but I figure the factory did testing and found out that is the best thing for the motor when started.

when the engine is cranking at cold starts it is dumping more fuel than normal to try to get the car started so that is why it revs up at first. when it is sitting cold the ect sensor reads it is cold out so it puts a little more gas in. more gas= more fire= more heat. i think it is something like that but don't quote me.
