Guy has 03GT, guy has new BBK TB and plenum, guy has no tuner, guy needs to know if safe to install without tuner, understanding that little if any performance increase without tuner. will guy's car be affected in a negative way? Told guy to buy tuner first, guy no listen to The Dork. Guy just toss money around, now guy no money for tuner. Some guys, huh?
i wouldnt think there is a problem doing a tb/plenum swap with out a tuner. it might go a lil rich, but no biggy, u just dontwant your car running exremly lean, can cause problems.

Yeah he should be fine. However, when he gets a chance to dyno it, don't be surprised if the car is running lean. That's what mine did when I did those mods. It won't be lean to the point of a meltdown, but it won't be ideal.

Carguy says a little rich, Bluestreak says a little lean. I was thinking a little lean myself because of the introduction of more air to the motor. Just as long as he can floor it without worrying about puking the motor. I need to do these mods myself, but I have an Excalibrator 2. Will there be much of an increase in power without the tuner?

There will still be a worthwhile power increase without the tuner, but of course it'll only get better once it's tuned. My car has an Accufab 75mm TB, a C&L intake arm, a C&L upper plenum, BBK equal-length shorties, a catted X-pipe, and a Borla exhaust, and as far I know, it's not tuned. And it seems to be doing fine. I'm not even gonna worry about tuning till I top it off with 4.10s and pullies. THEN it'll get probably an X-calibrator 2.
If you're really worried about it I think I have a copy of my N/A tune with the C&L plenum, 70mm FRPP throttle body, JLT CAI and full exhaust. It's written with Diablo software. The car made ~265/315 with that tune.

Guy no worried no more. guy install sometime this weekend. The Dork need to order TB & plenum now. Dork got Excalibrator2 for 4.10s and FIPK. 75mm and a C&L plenum do Dork OK? Need pullies too. Recommendations?
I'd like to cam it eventually and get a larger MAF, like the article in the latest MMFF. But it also said that after all the mods were done, the tune only added about 5HP. Now I understand that you need to tune for the air/fuel ratio for safety, so is that where the power is coming from also??
money recommends steeda pulleys. money does not have pullies though. veryone else rec's steeda. Mac, MArch, BBK, and other companies have ud pulleys too. moto blue ud pulleys at rpmoutlet.com money thinks guy has a lot of options open to him. demolet.com has maf sensors which he tunes to your car. talk to john, he is the owner. The tune pulls power from everywhere, if it has a good tune on it.

stay away from any piggyback style under drive pulleys. they aren't nearly as reliable as the direct swap type, such as the Steeda kit. a 75mm throttle body and plenum is definitely a good combo especially if you've opened up the rest of the intake and exhaust.

Yup I've already done my exhast but I'm still holding off on the x pipes and I got the FIPK from K&N, so I'm intrested to see what it will be like with those mods.
Are the BBK's from mustangtuning.com the piggy back type or the replacement? One more thing, would it help at all to put on a TB spacer along with that setup
