Default Long tube header questions

Are long tubes worth the hassle? I have the stock catback system with a O/R H-pipe. I am going to get a throttle body and plenum for sure. The car is lowered an inch and I was also wondering about ground clearence. Will they hang down lower than anything else the way the car is now? My friend and I have the tools and the knowhow to do almost anything but I have heard it is still a pain and if we were going to do it to go with long tubes cause shorties suck.

L/T's are not worth it for you at this point. They are a huge pain in the ass to install since the motor either needs to be pulled or rocked over while still in the K-member to get it done. There are plenty of bolt-ons left that you can utilize for power.

If your dead set on doing it, L/T's are the only way to go. I met a guy at the track who had pretty much the same setup as me minus pullies, I believe, with L/T's, and he dyno'd at 270 something. He ran 8.7's in the 1/8th on street radials. If your state has strict emissions laws, I wouldn't mess with them.

I have L/T's on my 97 GT 5spd and they were a pain to install but it was worth it. I picked up 17 rwhp with my headers, Hi-flow X pipe and catback on a stock motor. It may not sound like much but as the mods grow so will the HP.
