Default Bad Oil Cooler?

A few months ago, I had posted concerns about a bad headgasket. See http://www.modulardepot.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=79834

Well, working 55-60 hour weeks has prevented me from pulling the motor and changing the headgaskets. The car is in the paint shop right now, getting a total repaint (color change), and I have not wanted to mess with it while they have been working on it between insurance jobs.

In a nutshell, my new motor has 20 mins of run time on it, most of it idle. I decided to do an oil change to remove any metal powder and debris, and I noticed green oil. There was also 1/4" if oil in my coolant tank. I've read that oil adapters that have the oil cooler built-in are known to go out. My original 96 GT motor had the oil adapter w/cooler, so I decided to re-use it, instead of getting a standard oil adapter. Would this be a likely culprit for my oil-in-coolant/coolant-in-oil problem? I didn't notice oil-in-coolant until after I did my oil change. The oil was not milky, but just greenish. Maybe it had not had time to blend enought to get milky?

Sounds like you found the problem
Normally when a head gasket is bad it puts water in the oil (engine), only a few times have I seen oil in the radiator and when I did the motor had a bad head gasket as well as a bad intake gasket.

Man if it prevents having to tear off heads only to find out the gaskets are good, I would at least give it a look see.

Yeah, worth a shot I guess. I have a standard adapter w/no cooler built in. I'll yank the current one off, install the other, put in fresh fluids and let it run for a few mins. (fingers crossed)
