Default Exhaust upgrade tips

I'm going to upgrade my stock exhaust, I want everything new from the exhaust manifold back to the tail pipe. Does anyone out there have an idea as to what I'll need? What I'm looking for is an X pipe, No cat's, and the rest of the exhaust system. What brand will give me the best fit, with the least amount of work, and the most gains? Thanx in advance for your help.

Comp. springs, adjustable UC arms, Adjustable LC arms, all from Steeda. Off season will see a Pro-Charger SC, I hope!!

If you want to keep the Unique mustang rumble you will want to go with an off road H pipe and a Flowmaster catback system ($350). If you just get the mufflers you'll still be paying about $200. Also if you just get the mufflers you'll have to have them welded in a shop. I did the weldins because my car is originally from Hawaii and the shipping on a catbacks system wasnt worth it. With the catback systems you can bolt them on your self without any welding including your mid pipes. X pipes are known to have a little more gains power wise but have more of racey tone. Also if you want the most powergains from a catback you probably want to go with a resonator type muffler sytem such as SLP catback. The difference in hp/tq from the different companys are minimal if your not running a power adder so id go with what you like price wise and sound wise. Im running the Mac Prochamber and flowmaster mufflers and it sounds nice but nothing like when I had the stock H pipe withe cats cut out. If I could do it all over id get the offroad H pipe instead of the prochamber. Im getting the flowmaster catback tomorrow.

I am running a set of BBK ceramic longtubes, BBK x-pipe, & Magnaflow Magnapacks catback. This combo has a unique sound unlike the Flows that everybody has. If you use longtubes (which will give you more power than shorties when the upgrades increase) you will need a set of O2 extensions and if you use a offroad pipe then you will need a set of MIL eliminators to keep the check engine light off. Also check into a retune for max power. Its not necessary but it helps.

I have the UPR off road X on my 97, good price and good quality and it didn't break the bank either. http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=301

Thanx Dollarbil,

Right now I'm thinking about going with the long tube headers, the X pipe and maybe the mag. flow, or SPL exhaust. Any thoughts? I need to get some kind of hand held tuner also. The Diablo sport is the one I hear the most about. Is it that good, or are there others?

What kind of longtube headers are you going to get? I think you should go with the flowmasters I just put my catback on my prochamber and it sounds great. Not too loud when your idling but when you give it gas its loud as !@$@. I think if its at all possible you should look to get dynotuned somewhere after you are finished with your upgrades. They can put a custom tune into certain tuners if you really want the tuner. I went with a custom tune on a chip.
