I was planning on modding my 02 stang but seems I have found a great deal on an 89 Mustang GT 5.0 in great condition(smokes a little) for $2000. I feel I would have alot more options with the 89 over the 02 as for as getting some HP going. My 02 is my daily driver so I could do most of the work on the 89 myself, would be tons cheaper and still have a way to get back and forth to work and such.

I think it is a good idea, nothing like having a second car, maybe later you can also mod the 02.

I have an 03 Cobra and a 89 LX notch. Best of both worlds if you can afford insurance and maintenance.

Go for it, I did and am really happy that I am 2 stangs rich now. The 89 will be alot cheaper to make fast too. I have about $3800 total in my 89 and it will smoke my 97 GT, and it hasn't even really hooked yet because of the boogered up rear suspension. When I get it to hook and pull a sub 1.8 60' I should be in the mid-low 8s in the 1/8 mile. I believe a 8.6 in the 1/8 is equal to a 12.9 in the 1/4, just multiply by 1.5....Also alot of the time people don't want to buy a car with a bunch of mods because they know its been driven hard and who knows if the mods were installed properly.
