Default Longtube install

Ok guys since the guys on the other msg board im on are total retards.. can you guys give me an idea how much TIME you got charged for your LT install? I pretty much found a hell of a deal for some LT's and a mid pipe, but I need to figure out how much its goin to cost in labor to install them...

I have no clue how long it would take a shop to do. A full day would not surprise me at all though.

Ive been to about 10 different shops asking about the labor on headers. They all say $300 to $600 for the install. Some of them said they wouldnt even touch the longtubes. The general guidline says its an 8 hour job. Especially with long tubes your going to have to lift the motor. What brand are they also? If their not bbk, bassani, mac, hookers, or kooks I wouldnt even bother with having them installed.

I knwo my car like the back of my hand, and I have all the ford training that you can get and it took me like 17 hours to do my equal length shorties. DON'T buy em, they are a waste of money, and If you really want them then install em when the engines out. Some of the bolts are a ***** to get at even when the engines out lol.

17 hours? Well first, I would never buy shorties for my car - that is a waste of money. Longtubes however aren't as much. The shop around here is really asking for 400 for install, so that's not to bad. considering what they have to do. Thanks for all the replies.

Longtubes grow with the engine better than shorties do. $400.00 doesn't sound like too bad of a deal. I wouldn't install any that cheap but I don't have a lift and that makes a difference.

it also took me about 17 hours to do shorties. shorties definatly are not worth anything. but then i got hooker long tubes they took about the same time but it was not that bad. you just have to make sure you get all the stock studs out. you have to take off the starter, oil filter, dipstick tube, motor mounts ( also have to cut a notch in the driver's side mount), and lift the engine from one side to the other. but hooker's instructions were very detailed. the pain an the a$$ was making my own mid pipe but thats besides the subject. if i were you i would just put the car in the garage for about a week and just do a little each day.
