4:10's or more - Modular motors need to run in the upper rpm's to be happy. I wished I had gone to 4:30's or more actually. 3:73's are a great gear for a 5.0, but not a 4.6 - you wont notice too much difference , imo
The pro's of 4:10's - you'll smile alot more. The cons, you may lose a tiny bit of mpg.
THe pro's of 3:73's - Ummmm, cant think of any. The cons, you'll regret them because it wont be that much difference.

Thats completely incorrect about the gas mileage... your mileage will in fact go up, provided that you can keep your foot out of it, and keep her under 3200 rpms.

THe key word here is May.
If you dont lose any mpg, than you're a very disciplined person - most of us cant keep our foot out of it after steeper gears
Originally posted by Twister Milw, that is incorrect, more RPM for the same speed means more fuel....
Twister, that is incorrect... less you have to keep foot into gas pedal means less flow through the injectors means less fuel spent.
There was a VERY long thread about people with 4.30's and 4.56's posting their gas mileage on the corral.... most of them get 24 or more miles per the gallon... some were posting theyve gone over 300 miles on 12 gallons.
So, now you tell me where you're getting your figures from.

w3rD!!
with my 3.73's (5.0) i gained 3mpg even with my foot in it.
with higher gears, you may be turning more RPM, but the injectors are under a very light workload so it doesn't use as much fuel.. believe me, it took me a while to convince milw96cobra to get something more than 4.10's, and even today, i tell him he shoulda gotten 4.56's, but the 4.30's are going in today at the shop.. oh well.

After reading this post I am gonna go with 4.10's. Only, question that I need to know is does 4.10's cause you to spin your tires alot especially in the rain?
