Default Check Engine Error Code P1443

I recently had this error code come up, and I took the car to AutoZone and they did a check on the error code but were not able to to find what the error code was so I then googled it and found that the error code stands for Idle Air Control Valve (IAC), so then I purchased a new IAC and installed it and that fixed the problem, so if any one that has an error code P1443 then it's the IAC valve.

I hope this helps you.

Was your car idling poorly when you got the code?

Yes, and when switching gears from 1 to 2 the car felt like it was choking. Man I tell you what I am glad I replaced IAC valve now my car shifts good and drives smooth.

Very good. Finally someone that actually believes an error code and doesn't think it's some other wacked out cause.

Default Okay so...

I don't have a Mustang. I have a 97 Cougar with a 3.8.
I started getting this code after I ran out of gas the first time after changing my fuel pump. The light only comes on when the fuel is low. And then I reset it when I add gas. But it has to be reset or it just stays on.
So what I am wondering is what would trigger the code P1443 only when there is low fuel and how should I go about fixing it.
Thanks,
Connie
P.S.
I would appreciate anyone's help. You can email me at conniejackie@hotmail.com

well I hate to bust-your-bubble but a P1443 is an EVAP code NOT and IAC code....
glad to hear it's running well but, I doubt you've fixxed the problem, as that code, 443 on a 1996 to 1998 Mustang is a sign of a bad Cainster Purge Solenoid (E6ZZ-9C915-A) and a bad Thermistor/Flow Sensor (F57Z-14A606-BA).....

codes start wth either a PO or P1, depending on model and year... now IAC trouble codes are #'s 505, 506 & 507, so if it were an IAC issues the codes would have read P1505, P1506 OR P1507....

Question I have a 96 mustang with code P1443

I just got a 1996 mustang and drove it down the e-way at 70miles an hour and the check engine light popped on and wont go out. So i took it to autozone and they gave me the code P1443. Then the guy said it could be anything to do with emissions and that it must not be bad enough yet cuz the car runs fine. Now...it may run good and all but that light being on all the time is driving me nuts..lol Then i started searching on the net and found this site. Now...I see a couple threads on here that saids different things about code P1443..lol Such as...."
Cainster Purge Solenoid (E6ZZ-9C915-A) and a bad Thermistor/Flow Sensor (F57Z-14A606-BA)"...and "
Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)"
My question is...does anyone know what the real answer is to this P1443??? Please get back to me A.s.a.p. thanks!! James

I've never heard of 1443 being anything except evap. I have the code right now and just installed a new purge flow sensor, since that is what I've read is the most likely culprit. If that fails to fix it, I'll replace the solenoid.

I had the same code on my 97 GT. Changed the purge flow sensor and solenoid. Problem solved.

p1443 means that pcm noticed that the gas tank did not drop pressure nor reach vacuum.p means powertrain,1 means manufacturer specific,4 means emissions, the next four means canister or tank purge related, and 3 is that it didnt reach vacuum.
