Default Mid RPM stuttering

I cant figure out what the problem is, if I floor my car it will accelerate but not with out stuttering the whole way up. Its odd because every now and then when I pass 4 thousand RPM's the car will set you back like it should from the start, but the whole way up its missing like crazy. Ive done spark plugs, Im about to put on wires and a fuel filter, the only thing I havent checked is injectors and the fuel pump. Its driving me crazy that I cant open throttle my car with out it missing the whole way up. A guy at the auto partys store said it could be my cats being clogged up. This problem hasnt always been there either. If it is the cats then the new x-pipe I ordered should fix it, but Im to the end of my line and I didnt want to come in here and ask unless I was totally lost, and well, I am.

-anyone that saw my post about getting the cobra engine, my dream was shot someone else bought it.

What year is the car and how many miles are on it. Cats should not go bad at any point before 100K at least.

Its a 96 GT with 107k on it. Ive really drove it well since I bought it, never pushing it hard, it has to be plug wires or a coil breakdown somewhere.

Are you getting any codes for misfires? Just because the CEL isn't on does not mean the ECU is not getting a random code. It just hasn't been locked in for one reason or another. If you have a scantool, hook it up and see what comes in. If that doesn't work, start pulling plugs and look for the presence of unburned fuel on the electrodes. The one that's wet is your winner.
