Question 4.6 SOHC Camshaft Sprocket removal

Is there anyway to safely remove the sprockets without the "special tool"? And how do they come off?

Thanks

Some 4.6 sprockets need to be pressed on and off, while others just bolt on to the camshaft with a keyway. I believe all mustangs have the keyway type, that doesnt require any special tools. while like some 4.6 trucks have the press on type.

as stated, some are pressed on, while otheres are bolt on. Yes, all mustangs have keyways, so the cams and sprockets go in only 1 way.

Press on sprockets can be replaced with bolt on ones. Pressed on sprockets were found on all windsor engines (ie. 99/00 mustangs and trucks)
