Default Check engine light on 96 cobra

Well about 4 days ago i noticed when i give gas between 1,500rpm and 3,500rpm the car would jerk as if it was trying but couldnt go as if the mixture or combustion was messed up. then finally 3 days ago my check engine light comes on, so i call around to my buddies cause one works at a ford dealer ship so he brought home the computer which shows the error codes. it said PO301 which is misfire detected. he said since it is 301 also it would probably be the 1st cyclinder that i shoudl check my spark plugs and wires. today im going to order new spark plugs, msd spark lpug wires, and msd coil packs. does any oen have any info on what else it could be or what else i should relpace? the car has 91K on it. thank you for your time and assistance.

-2 MSD Blaster Coils
-8 NGK V-power Spark Plugs which is a total of 257.99
