I know this is kind if a backwords thread, but i just don;t understand this. I have had a check engine light on since i january 2006 when i bought my 97 Gt. I already had a borla x-pipe side exhaust and no cats. I had the light cleared several times and it just kept coming back. But last month i got another diagnostic and it said EGR systom insuffient(i think), so i took it in and got a ton of stuff in the system replaced. Since then the light has been off and never been back on. Now my question is, since i don't have cats shouldn;t my light still be on. I am not completely sure if i have O2 sensors or anything resembling O2 sensors, but i think i don't. Is there some other reason why the light wouldn;t be on, because i dont have converters

The O2 sensors are before the cats normally, my check engine light use to come on occasionally when I had cats, since I took them out, the light hasn't come on.

ditto i took my cats out and the engine light would come on and off - eventually the f*cker shut off and has stayed off
