Ok... i have my C springs at my house and got all the proper equipment to put them on. It was going to be a late night project with me and one of my buds. Well i get the car ready and i begin to losen up the nuts. Well i go get my lock nut and try to turn it and it will not catch! I'm like WTF so i look in it and the damn thing is stripped. I'm so pissed right now... words cannot describe my emotion. Anywho will ford have a lock i can use or at least a lock that i can buy. What shoud i do?

If it has a wheel lock on it, you have to get the key for it. You can tell if it's a lock by the design on the front of the bolt - if it is just a wheel lock, most ford dealers can help you get it off (also check your glove box, a lot of times the key is in there). If it's a regular bolt and it's just stripped.. you can try like a pair of vice grips something along those lines - but i know one time, one of my bolts were stripped so badly, they had to torch it off, lol...

MAC makes a tool for getting the stripped or broken locks off. It looks kind of like a tapered pipe. You hammer it on then hit it with an impact wrench. I had to use one on my 5.0 a few years ago. Worked pretty well!

Its actually the nut that u attach to the lock is stripped. The inside of it. Not the lock on the wheel! Its the actual key. I'm goign to ford to see if they can order me a new one on monday!

Yeah, the monkeys that put on my rear tires used their impact to tighten everything, then not to long ago, I was going to take the rims off to clean the inside and I ended up breaking the pattern on the inside of the key.... pissed me off something fierce. Luckily the local dealership understood my plight and took them off for me, no charge.

what i used to do was take a socket and hammer on top of the lug (use atleast a 1/2 drive) and then back it off...it gets the lock off but the socket and lock are sometimes messed up afterwards

I use my impact wrench on mine twice a week and have yet to have a problem. Maybe there are just differences in quality between sets available, or I'm just lucky .

i have a ford dually and the idiot that changed the tires for the previous owner use a impact gun and broke one of the studs off completly, i didint realize this untill i took the wheel cover off, i always use a hand wrench to tighten the wheel even though its slower

I use a torque wrench. 110 is FORD recomended for factory wheels on the SN95 Mustangs.
