98 GT Rear end issues

Default 98 GT Rear end issues
I have noticed a funny noise comming from the rear end, sounds like passenger side. It happens at low speed, usually going into or out of a parking lot or driveway. It is a POP or THUMP. I jacked it up and took off the wheels, then crawled under and attempted to wiggle upper and lower control arms, and both sets of shocks, looking for a loose or failing bushing. Everything SEEMS tight, but it occoured to me that everything is under the tension of the springs right now, as the weight is off the axle, and the suspension is fully extended.

The car has 47K miles on it.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Anyone had similar issues?

The only thing that made my 98 do this was my rear brakes were going out.....wornout.....

It could also be in the rear end....bad pinion seating....

Hmmmmm.........

Hmmmmm.........
But if it were the Pinion seating, wouldnt it continue making the noise as I rolled down the road?

It only seems to do it once or twice at the most on each occourance..

does it do it on every driveway, or one particular really steep one? where its almost like goin up a hill when you enter the driveway?

I got sick of chasing it, so I went crazy and replaced everything. Check out my sig!

Replaced my LCAs, springs, spring isolators and shocks. No more noise, and feels like I have a new car!!

sounded like either a bad shock or swaybar bushing

It turns out that it was a slightly bent lower control arm, slightly blown bushing, and a bad shock.

I am amazed at the diff those Eibach springs make...
