I am shopping around for intakes right now. I have heard that just getting the plastic pi intake is a very good choice. But i have been hearing alot of good things about the typhoon intake. I just read and awsome (customer review) about this intake, so i am not sure what to do. Any ideas?

considering all of the negative coments about all of their other products (Ford, Chevy, carbed, EFI, does not matter), I would not even think for half of a second that they can build ANYTHING worth half of the cost....
i have heard people disliking the intake manifold on this forum but no imperical data saying that it is junk. I read that the manifold produced 30rwhp in a modded engine - i also heard that it runs pretty good - you wont know till you buy it - and markwondi if you werent a so damn opinionated you wouldnt AFMS most hated a$$hole lol

Keep looking around...ther is the Reichard intake, and 2 other new ones that are custom.... (forgot names) that produce more HP..go to the MM&FF web site and search the articles....
Honestly.....the PI intake manifold will do you just fine. Thats what I got still and it works fine........I was told by 2 different tuners that the PI is about the best unless your looking for looks and/or are runnin nitrous.
I will eventuall go with a Reichard intake or This new one I read about in MM&FF that is custom but still fits under stock hood....I'll go home tonight and look thru my mags for the articles....

Money, let's look at the 5.0 intake...it is a rip-off of the Edelbrock performer. It takes HOURS of porting to flow as well as the Edelbrock and the aluminum is so piss poor that stripped threads are common. Someone that I know (posts here alot and would like to remain silent) was given one of their throtle bodies and on it's first drive was stuck wide open causing an engine failure...I personally hate any product that buys a reputation with magazines when they produce an inferrior product.

I've physically had the PP intake in my hand, i've dyno'd it... not just an opinion

but isnt there alot of potential since it is a three piece design? i'd like to have one to play around with on a flow bench or on an actual motor to see what power is to be had? or have you done this already? im mean, its not worth 600 bucks to me, just for looks, but if theres substantial power to be had, then maybe.

ok u c - now there is data to prove its junk. I havent seen any articles regarding the $hittiness of the intake manifold - but if more than one person has read it i buy it

Are we talking about the same intake manifold that MM&FF put on their 99 GT in the November '06 issue that's basically stock? I'm not discarding anyone's feedback, but in that article they said it was a really good piece. At peak power it only made 2.2hp and 4 ft/lbs but it made 20 ft/lbs more at 3k and 11hp on a stock car which I think is pretty good and would be really noticable in normal driving. I'm seriously thinking about buying this intake as well as throttle body and plenum because of this article and would like to know if this is the same intake you are all talking about and saying is junk. Thanks in advance

Yes they are saying the same intake. I have heard a lot of bad things about it on this site and a couple others. But my mechanic put one on and said it was not that bad of an intake. I think most of the power gains are going to be from the plenum/throttle body people always put on at the same time as the intake. I have a book that shows a couple different intakes not the PP typhoon. But the RR intake lost power to the stock PI everywhere under 6000 rpm then the RR started to gain, they also make a short runner and long runner intake. The P-51 intake looks to be the best in to me and if I get an intake it will be the P-51.
