Default water in engine

hi my name is josh and i have an 04 mustang gt. a couple of day ago, i was coming home and it was raining hard so the streets were flooding. i have a bbk intake which is connected to the originnal air filter housing. i installed a ram air setup from the fog light to the filter housing. anyways, the car was driven through "a river of water". the car died and would not start. i had it towed home so it could dry out. two days pass and the car still wont start. i took off the intake and found water still sitting there. i saw water on the throttle body flap and only figure there is water in the penulum, manifold and engine. I am seriously bummed and dont know what to do. IF THERE IS ANYONE WHO HAS SOME INSIGHT ON THIS PLEASE REPLY!!!

Sounds like your motor got hydrolocked to me. You're not going to get out of this one cheaply. Call your insurance company and see if they cover things like this. I'd be it's going to need at least one new piston, maybe a valve or two also.

Good luck and let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

I had this happen once too. It almost never rains here, but when it does, it REALLY does. Anyhow, I got lucky. Mine died but no real damage was done. I took the plugs out, let it dry out, and sprayed some carb cleaner into each cylinder to help get the water out. Once I was sure it was good and dry, I put it all back together, and it started. This is UNUSUAL, as usually it does hydrolock. If that is the case, once you make that call to your insurance company, I would start hunting a new engine. You should be able to line one up for around 1500.

Try barring the engine over by hand (not hitting it with a starter) and see if it really is hydrolocked. If it is, that **** ain't turning over.

i would probably do what Nyt_Muves said and pull out the plugs, and blow compressed air to get out some of the water. its goin to make a mess, so be prepared and try not to get sprayed. after the majority is out, then turn it over by hand with a ratchet and 18 mm socket. and blow it out some more, then when it seems like only air is coming back out, try cranking it with the plugs out and fuel disconnected (@inertia switch), and get residual water out. put the plugs back in, crank it. if the crank is irregular (sounds lopsided) then you probably have a bent rod. if it cranks smooth and continuous, then fire it up and see how it runs.
