Default Question about 19" wheels

It looks like alot of people go with 18" or jump to 20" rims. I was talking to with someone who said that with a 19" rim you can stay close to the stock tire height. I want new rims and i was thinking 19" rims but if Im thinking of that size should i just go to a 20". I really dont hear alot of people talking about 19s, Anybody have 19" rims on their car. Also would 19s hurt performace just as much as people say 20s can hurt performance.

i typically dont like anything bigger than 18", and since my car is lowered 18" is the biggest i would go. above that you have to worry too much about the tire being too thin and the ride quality getting worse. currently have 17x9 on my car and i like the look of those better. not too big, not too small.

I wouldn't try anything bigger than an 18 myself.

Yeah i have 18" and i wouldn't go any bigger on a pre-04GT. I have 18s on my car and with lowering springs, my car would be Perfect!

so what would be the reasons for not going to a 19". I see you all say no bigger then 18 but what would be your reason? Performace reasons?. Also I See MattKelly said no bigger then 18 for up to the 04 stangs. What is it with the 05up that would make a difference, because it does seem like alot more people are getting 20" on the newer mustangs. the 99-04 seem like they have a good amount of space for the larger rims. Also my car has the bodykit on which makes my 17" look even smaller. I do have lowering springs( not on yet) and i was thinking becuase of the kit it might be to low but some larger rims might help a little, so it wouldnt be to low when putting on the lowering springs (they are the Eibach Pro Kit).
