Default Help with tuning

I know that there is no way to give exact numbers but there is no dyno in my area. What are some a/f numbers, timing specs, fuel pressure etc........... I have a friend with a laptop program for tuning but the only dyno within 2hr drive closed. I have 40 series flows, gutted stock mid-pipe, cai, and will put 3.73's or 4.10's here in a month or two. Any tecnical data or a piont in the right direction is appreciated. I am used to carbs not FI.

I wouldn't mess with the tune without the proper equipment to monitor your changes. You can do some minor tuning with a handheld using a wideband O2 and datalogging, but why risk it for 3 hp?

I bought my SCT 4-bank chip from www.americanmuscle.com and they had SCT tune it base on my current mods. I ran on the SCT tune for about 3 months before I made it to a dyno. The guy that dyno'd my car for me said that they did one hell of a job on a blind tune. Typically the 4.6L don't react to timeing changes but you probably want to target a 13:1 air/fuel ratio. Other than that I'm not sure. The other route you could go is to by the XCal2 by SCT and then contact somebody that has tuned a few mustangs. They maybe willing to send you a known good tune file (for a price) via e-mail that you can put onto the XCal and then plug it into your OBDII port. One guy you might want to try is the guy that does my tuning...Mike Bell at Dayton 5.0 Performance (937)835-1150. Pretty good guy, and I'm sure he'll help you out, even in LA.
