I'm looking to purchase a 4.6 gt (2000 to 2004) and am wondering which modifications will increase gas mileage and by how much? Also, what would be a ball park figure for each add on? Obiously I'm mechanically challenged, but I thought I might get some advice on here.
cold air induction...
brings in more colder air and has an effect that drops rpm's thus having better gas mileage. after my cai install, i noticed that my cruising speeds were about 400 rpm's less.

I have some to the conclusion fuel economy and mustangs do not really go that well together, I guess that my mileage is not that bad I get about 15-18 miles a gallon on a very good week when I dont drive it like I stole it.
i did notice slightly better gas mileage once i got my CAI but if you get a mustang dont foccus too much on gas mileage cuz it wil just depress you lol.

definately if you drive sane you will see 18-20. if you do a alot of highway gears will kill it especially when you go more than 373s. some good free flow mufflers cai will help out.

dude pretty much gas mileage and mustangs are not buddies - your not going to get great gas mileage out of a mustang
I agree......I think in theory if you did minor bolt on mods and kept your A/F ratio perfect you might see a small increase in gas mileage, however if you are looking for good gas mileage then you probably should look for another car. I'm not trying to be a jerk or harsh, but the fact of the matter is that ESPECIALLY when you start modding it's hard to keep your foot off the throttle and if you do what's the point of modding?
