Exclamation 1998 Mustang 4.6. How can same cams have different timing?

Well just wondering how or why can the same cams be off on timing between each other. They are pretty close but shouldnt they be the same on each side. I believe they are about 1 degree away from each other. The engine builder is degreeing them and will set them equal but jsut wondering why they are unequal. Markwondi have you ever had this problem "XE270AH cams" he just put a set of VT stage II cams in a similair engine as mine except "TEA stage II heads which has smaller valves" and had no problems with them lined up good and everything.

stock cam gears are off from the factory. They are mass produced and the keyway can be 3-6* off bank to bank from the factory.

Thanks markwondi, that does make sense. The engine builder is going to just grind the key enough to get it where he wants, then tighten the bolt down and cut a different keyway in the gear/cam so it can not move any. I was just affraid of it moving with just grinding or adjustable cam gears.
