hey, i got a friend who has a 1998 TRans AM WS6. He says he it has around 350 horse. IT has a 350 in it. I looked at some of its specs and here is what i got:
5.7 Liter LS1 All-Aluminum V8 Engine (345 HP)
6-Speed Manual Transmission with Hurst Shifter
RamAir Fully Functional Air Induction System
17" Polished Aluminum Wheels with 275/40 Eagle F1 Tires
3.42 Rear End with Limited Slip Differential
I have a 1998 GT 5 speed stock with just a CAI. I was just wondering what it would take to beat him. I plan to put on an exhaust this christmas and maybe some gears. What else would i need?? I know that he has got to be a lil heavier than me, but i am not sure how much. Thanks and any advice is helpful. Thanks
Those specs are not for a base WS6. They sound like a SLP model Camaro SS with the 345 hp. The 1998 WS6 had 320 UNDERRATED horsepower. Many were dynoing 295-305 at the tires. I would go with 4.10 gears, o/r h pipe, a shifter, NX 100 shot, PI heads and that should put you in the mark.
oh, i had the wrong model then cuz his is like a limited edition. He has the same engine that a 1998 Corvette has in it. They only made like 150 of them. I will try and find out the name and model number. Thanks

150 of them....hmm? I don't know what that would be. At first I thought a Firehawk...but they made more of them than that. If you find out what it is 1998 GT, let me know.

Thats funny how do I see plenty of Cobras running 150 shots. Those heads so magical they give you that much more compression? It's all in the tune. Back off the timing, run a few heat range cooler plugs, a window switch, low fuel pressure shutoff, and a wot switch, I dunno.
cobras can take it because there pistons arent made out of recycled pop cans and dont have a plastic intak manifold...bullit intake you should be fine...just depends on how much money you have to blow, plus a 96-98 with pi heads will have higher compression than a cobra..just my thoughts no flame intended....peace

However i thought the 1998 GT intake manifold was not plastic( i have friends who do run NX kits on the stock intakes). Also correct me if i am wrong, but aren't the pistons the same? I have seen plenty of guys running spray on a GT with no problems. I dunno, just trying to find answers.

i was under the impression that the 99+ cobra pistons were foged, thats what i assumed you were talking about when u stated 150 shots on cobras...96 to 98 cobra was a very good design but yes has the same sorry pistons as the gts...all gts from 96 up the intake is plastic with the acception of the bullit gt,i blew the plastic intake on mine with just a 75 shot thats when i went ahead and built my engine...but yeah you should deffinantly be very careful when using n20 on the pi head swap cars unless the bottom end has been built plus when the pi headswap is complete you will have the 99 plastic intake which may hold out better than my 98 did, guess you just got try it and see what happens...detonation
