Default And another gear question...

Ok..I've read the gear posts, yet it all seems to be very subjective. So I'll try to be more specific with my question. I had 3.73's put on a while back, and when I did, I basically lost first gear..You know what I mean.
And It's very easy to get tire spin and slide a bit etc...
Would this be increased with the 4.10's? Would I have less of first gear? My GT is a daily driver as well as my fun car. I do not take it to the track.
Thanks

Yes, 4.10's would cause you to shift out of 1st quicker. If you want to live with teh 3.73's and don't race, id say keep em.. im sure someone will object, so i will base this one on the fact that a gear change will cost more money.that could be spent elsewhere.
let the flaming begin! lol

Well I just ordered my 4:10 gears and am having them put in next tuesday. What do they say...dont fear the gear? Flowmaster catback goes on monday. I'm also getting a superchip the same day. I know I will lose casual first gear use, but it is worth it just to eat up those camaros and imports at the stop light. With a little management Im sure it will be fine, and a worthwhile investment.

4.10's, flowmasters, graphics, and a superchip still is not enough to eat up a Camaro with a basically stock 97 GT. You need to invest allot more money to get close enough to the 99+ GT's. Unless your talking about the 3rd generation Camaro with only 245 HP from a 350. I'm not trying to flame at all; I'm just letting you know that the new Camaro are an awesome machine. If I offend you in any way with this post I apologize.

Think about this, your 97 has stock 215 HP. The 01 Camaro V6 has 200 HP and the Z28 has 310 HP

97 GT - Transmission: Manual
0-60: 6.6
1/4 Mile: 15.1
1/4 Speed: 92

01 Camaro Z28 (Base Model Z28, non SS) - Transmission: Manual
60: 5.5
1/4 Mile: 13.9
1/4 Speed: 103
