Default Problem with 98 GT gas tank

I was wondering if the gas tank for my car is going to rust on the inside. My grandpa has ran his own body shop for 50 years and told me that if a car is going to sit for awhile its better to have a full tank of gas so the inside of the tank doesnt start to rust from moisture and condensation. He said that old cars had that problem so I was wondering if our cars have anything different to stop that. I am going to college right now and I bought a Ford festiva so my Gt wont get bashed up or stolen so it sits in our heated garage for a few months at a time without being drove.

Default Tank

The tanks today are a little better then before but He is right, you should fill it before storing it, even though a heated garage will really cut down on the condensation. Also, pick up a bottle of Sta-Bil and put in the recommended amount to help keep the fuel from going stale, good luck.
