Default Long and Short Fuel Trim ??

I have an SCT Xcal2 from American muscle and the can 93 tune pings. It ping under load from 40 to about 60 (in overdrive). WOT does not seem to have a problem. I have been trying to fix it since X-mass. I have cleaned the MAF, changed the plugs (22c's), changed the fuel filter and tried several different brands of gas. American muscle has been working with me to try to resolve the problem. I am on my 3rd 93 tune (each time taking out some timing). The pinging gets better (to a point) the longer I drive it which makes me thing that the car is lean and the computer is adapting by adding fuel which might explain why the pinging gets 'better' but does not go completely away.

I decided to Data log the Long and Short fuel trim and have attached a file of that data log (.5 has already been added to the long fuel trim as per the Xcal instructions). The long trim looks lean but I do not know what it should look like. Does anybody have an idea??

I know that I need to get a dyno tune and use a wide band 02 sensor but funding is short and will be for a while so I am trying to fix it on the cheap.

Holy hell that's one fvcked up tune. Your long term fuel needs to be at 1.0 +/- 8%

It's extremely high, no wonder you have tip-in pinging. Make sure your o2's are good, and get some fuel into it.

BTW, was the datalogging done at part load, or full throttle?

It was done at part load in OD starting at 40mph I give it some gas, but not enough to cause it to down shift, and it pings up to about 60mph. I though that it looked lean....I have to get my tuner to add fuel is what you are telling me to do

I logged some more parameters so let me get them in chart form.

Yes, you need fuel. You want your LTFT to be in the 1.0 range during part throttle. At WOT, you're car goes into open loop and won't be based off the fuel trims, which is normal. It sounds like you're getting some tip-in pinging. I've seen this to be very common as most "tooners" don't know what they're really doing.

Thanks for the help, here is a chart of the trims for the 93 tune (the other chart was the 87 tune). It looks just as bad as the 87 tune and I have added the .5 to the long tern trim like the SCT instructions say to in this chart also.

How would the tuner add fuel? (sorry I am ignorant when it comes to this)
