Default msd digital-6 plus ignition

new to the forum, so i'm getting all my questions out. i just got the ignition in today, bought under the pretense it would work for my car. all the documentation i've read looks like it's for older cars with single coils and distributors. our mustangs, well mine anyway, has the coil-on-plugs. does anyone have experience with this particular msd ignition and if it's even applicable on my auto. and if it is, can you please shed some light on how to hook this stupid thing up. i considered just getting the msd CoP's, but i thought this would be better and i wanted the integrated timing retard. thanks.

ps. anyone have experience with the msd stacker jegs has? is just the CoP's enough, or are those and the stacker better?

It will not work on a COP car. The stock ford coil on plugs are very good, they've been run on 800+rwhp cars with no issues. Ignition is not a mod needed on newer cars these days.

DIS-4 is the only products by MSD that will work on a coil on plug engine.

Plus with the DIS-4 you need 2 of them and tach adaptors, about 1G worth of parts for really very little if any gain. The stock Ford COP are a multiple spark discharge and as stated above have proven to be be pretty good over the years, good luck.

thanks, back to ebay for i guess. will the msd timing retard work, or is there any timing retard that'll work will CoP's?

on the topic of ignition, can any one recommend a good hi performance plug. i need to replace mine, don't think they're bad, but i've had them for a long time and it seems like people are replacing them pretty regularly. i've been looking at the ngk iridiums, but i've only found one-step colder for nos/sc apps. i have nos that i use once in a blue moon in the meantime until i get a sc, and it recommended 2-steps colder. anyone know if the ngk 1-steps will work ok?

How big of a shot are you spraying? The NGK TR6's will work fine as long as your not spraying p!ss out of it, perfect since there only $1.99 each.

Dude you're on borrowed time spraying that much. I'd back it down to 100 or less. Also to go with the colder plugs, drop down to a 180F thermostat.

i don't spray that often, but it seems to work ok. i plan on taking it down to at most 100, probably less. i do have colder plugs and i'm getting a thermostat soon. i've been lucky i guess not have my intake fly away like the video.
