Default Ticking noise with a new mid pipe?

Has anyone heard of a prochamber or off road h pipe making a ticking noise. Wanted to know before I purchased a new mid pipe. If so, is it associated with a certain brand of mid pipe? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks! BML

is it a ticking noise or more of a crackling/popping noise? and how new is it? if its fairly new (no more than a few days), it could be the metal just expanding from the heat, and that should go away with time.

no worries, i read the title and then what you said and assumed you were thinking of buying another one to replace a ticking one...lol

i actually havent heard of any ticking, but if i had i would assume it would be cuz its new. as for the pipes...yes, off road with side exhaust will be loud, i think funkyboss has a clip of his car somewhere on here, lets see if he posts up a link or something. i would personally go catted just because (in your case, anyways) the sound might get too loud and annoying, not to mention the fumes from the side exhaust.

Reivaxtorres I found funkybosses sound clip. Sounded good, couldnt tell if it was too loud though. I think I will stick with your advice and get the catted one. The fumes would be too much. What is the cheapest catted pipe on the market. I have heard bad things about bbk catted pipes. Whats your opinion on them? Ive heard your car and its my favorite sounding mustang I have heard. Being in person or on the internet. Correct me if i am wrong but you have regular magnaflows. Right!? What is better x or h pipes? I want to make the right decision. Unlike my mufflers, I wish I would of got the magnaflow sound enhanced in stead of the regular ones, o well life goes on. Thanks! BML

yup, mine are just the regular magnaflow mufflers. i think the cheaper catted xpipes are probably going for around $300 or so, you can probably find them a little cheaper on ebay or something. i paid about $400 for mine, but that was back in 03 i think. since then ive had no problems what so ever with them, i just had to get my car smogged this past jan. and it passed with flying colors. the only things that are bad with the xpipes right now is that i kept on scraping everywhere when i had my car lowered (a little more than 2") so the cats are a little banged up and scratched, but other than that they are working perfectly, perfect fitment, nothing to complain about. as for the x-pipe vs h-pipe, i prefer the sound of the x-pipe over the h-pipe. the h gives the car more of a classic muscle tone, while the x gives it a more modern tone, which is what i was aiming for. performance wise, there is minimal, if any, difference between the two

Just meant that I would have rather had the sound enhanced mufflers over the regular ones. Thats all I was referring to. I found a bassani mid pipe for two hundred and twenty five or best offer. o yea its catted and comes with the 02 sensors. I think its a pretty good deal. Cant wait to get it! BML

Yeah, get a catted mid-pipe! I'll be doing the same as soon as my budget permits lol. I see used Bassani pipes for sale all the time, usually around $200-$250.
