Default Mach 1 owners help!? Gear experiences.

I have an 04 Mach 1, and I want to install gears, but like everyone else I have the same questions... What size? My Mach is my daily driver and Im not looking for a dragster. I was considering 3.73's, but Im not sure if I will even notice a difference with them since I have 3.55's now. I was concerned about getting 4.10's, because Im afraid it will raise my RPM's to high and waste gas.

This is where you guys come in. Im looking for some advice from someone with a Mach 1 with experience in this swap (No offense other mustang buddies, but all our cars are different).
What did you do?
What size?
What did you notice?
And most important, where did it put your RPM's?

Thanks for your help guys. It is much appreciated.

going to stock 3.55's, you may not notice, from what i've read. i've been reading about who likes what and in what application for a couple weeks now. everyone seems to love 4.10, but for highway use, i'd say it's too much. sure, 3k at 65 or 70(whatever it is), but i drive closer to 80. if you do any highway driving, at all, i'd say 3.73. unless of course you don't get over 70 on the highway. in which case i'd agree with the masses and say 4.10. i'm going with 3.73 cuz i'm on the highway a few times a week. but for me, going from 3.27(i think) to 3.73 will be a huge difference.

search the forums and you'll find more accurate numbers on rpm/mph between the gears. that was the difference maker for me. after all, this is going in my daily driver.

Since you and I pretty much have the same engine and car with the exception of the body style and design of your intake... go with the 4.10's if you are really concerned about highway mileage. If you don’t drive on the freeway too often do the 4.30's or even 4.56's. I wish I would have done 4.56's to be honest with you but I went with 4.30. I sit at 2k at 50 mph. so like 3k at 70. its not as bad as everybody tells you trust me. I almost went with 3.73's because everybody kept saying 4.30 is way too much but they would have been wrong. 4.30 or 4.56 are perfect if your car is mostly used in the city with some occasional freeway. If majority of your travels are freeway go with 3.90's because you will do good on the freeway with your mileage and you will notice significant pickup from your 3.55's. if you are gonna spend a shiitload of money on a gear swap don’t do 3.73's from your stock 3.55's. that would be stupid cause it’s a waste of money because you will hardly notice the difference between the 2. At the LEAST.. do 3.90's.. I would recommend 4.30 4.56

it says 94-95 t5, but they have the same gear ratios as the t45, so just type in the final ratio and you should be able to tell your RPMs

nice calculator. i typed in all my gear ratios in accordance with my tranny, and if i had 4.10 gears in, my rpms at 90 would be just under 3200. does that make sense? i've read a lot of posts that put 3000rpm in the 70mph range with 4.10's. 3200 is doable, if it's true. i may be back on the 4.10 wagon.

no, you'll be at 2800rpm. You have a Tr-3650 transmission with a 0.62 overdrive gear. 4.30's in your car will be equivalent to 4.10's in a T-45 car.

Yea, the 2000's had the T-45... I read the original posters post (about having a 04 Mach 1) and thought he was the one that was continuing this thread. Didn't even notice it was a different person

its cool, we are all entitled to one mistake, except for you. you're supposed to be perfect....now who am i supposed to use as my hero????

just playing. i figured you meant the 04 mach1 and didnt notice it was a different person. for our cars(t45 equipped), 3200rpm@90mph is realistic with the 4.10s, right?
