Default deciphering codes on 1993 town car

Got the car from my Dad, it has a check engine, I found on the site how to do the blink method and dumped the codes, thanks!

This is what I get:

with car off/ ignition on

113 Intake Air Temp sensor circuit indicates open circuit below -40f
332 Insufficient EGR Valve opening detected

for the 113, it's 60f degree's out, not -40f thank god!, so does this mean new temp sensor, and if so, where is it ? under the hood somewhere ?

for the 332, i replaced the EGR, both rattled when i shook them, I followed the hoses, have not pulled yet to check for blockage.

with car running

113
998 Hard Fault
113
998 Hard Fault

5-10 seconds go by and the car stumbles but does not stall, then the check engine light comes on and stays on.

this just telling me to repl the temp sensor ?

what about the stumble ?

Thanks!

Mike

hey mike, cant help you out too much with these, but the intake air temp is usually located on the intake tube, right after the mass air flow meter.

as for the EGR, since you replaced it already, did you check the hoses to make sure they are all intact? if it says its not opening enough, check the hose that is attached to top of it in particular. i believe the egr is still vacuum controled, so thats what might be causing it not open enough, but dont quote me on this as i am still not too familiar with how exactly the EGR works, i know the older ones worked off a vacuum, but not sure of these, just something another thing you might want to check out to eliminate as a possibility

IAT is located on rear of air filter box 2 wire connector. EGR code is most likely EGR ports stopped up. Remove throttle body and you will see a horse shoe shaped chamber, it will be full of carbon, after you get it cleaned out you will see 2 tiny ports these are the EGR ports make sure they are clear too.

Yep, you'll want to clean it with carb cleaner or the like.

As for the IAT, when their is an open circuit, the PCM will retard timing (as a safety precaution since it' can't read IAT's). The o2's will run in open loop, which can cause the engine to run poorly.
