Default Strange noise on startup

Hello everyone. Not sure if this is just a "normal" noise the engine ('07 V8) makes, but I figured I'd seek some advice before calling my dealer. My '07 is just a week old now, and starting yesterday I started noticing a sort of squeaking noise when I first start the car up. It does this for a few minutes then stops. It almost seems like something is either wet or a little loose - once the car is up to temp, it pretty much stops right away. At first I thought it was because I had washed it just a couple hours prior. But I noticed the same sound again tonight. This is my first Mustang, so I am wondering if it is just how the v8's sound until the engine hits temp. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sounds like the belt, is this a brand new car? Has any service been done on it recently? Antifreeze on the belt will do this everytime.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the car is brand new. I had it back to the dealer Tuesday because the TPMS needed to be reset because it was not working on one tire. So you're thinking it's just antifreeze on the belt?

Checked under the hood and you are right, it is the belt. It makes that noise for a few mins then stops and sounds normal. Everything else looked ok to me, although I know very little about repairing Mustangs. Is this something I should alert the dealer about?

Thanks again for the input.

well since its a new car it shouldnt be leaking fluids already. it's still under warranty so anything that you think needs to be fixed or any problems you think are wrong with it for whatever reason take it in because you have the warranty(free repair of anything) to your advantage. and actually oil on your belt or really anything can cause it to squeak. mine did this right after i did a radiator flush AND right after i got an oil leak after my driveshaft seal went oil. i would suggest to just take it in but you can buy belt dressing too and apply some of that to the belt and should solve the squeak. more importantly though, find out why it was leaking any fluids by taking it in. and dont put too much belt dressing on. just turn your car on and run it at idle and hold the can at where the water pump is and spray for about 1 or 2 second from about 6 inches away on both sides of the belt. should fix the squeak.

Thanks for your help Cobra. I called my dealer and let them listen to the noise over my cell. They think it is from "some" liquid on the belt. I am taking it in tomorrow morning.

Thanks again!
