Check Engine Light On Hey guys, I just had a weird experience with my brand new GT. The car has 4482 miles on it and I just got a check engine light on while I was driving home from the beach with my wife. I recently read a thread on here about getting check engine lights not long after installing exhausts that remove all the cats like mine. I didn't sweat when the light came on because none of the needles deviated from their normal positions. When I got home I did the instrument panel diagnostic trick (BTW that's really cool!)The only diagnostic code that came up was a 5284, which is the oil pressure switch failure code, the strange thing is that the oil gage didn't budge at all. That seems slightly odd to me. I was wondering if Ford does the same thing that GM does ( God forbid me for mentioning them ) by installing milage points in the computer that turn the light on at a given milage. If anyone has experienced this, please let me know so I can calm the wife down as she's about to go through the roof over this.
