I have a 2002 Gt Convertible, with most of the original Eagle ZR45 245/45 ZR 17 tires on it. To my knowledge, they are no longer made, and if they are, there are better tires, for less money out there, or so I am told. I dont know what they are. I have the orig wheels on the car. Can any one tell me of a good low profile, speed rated tire, that looks and handle well, and I really dont want to spend $200 per tire. Thanks.
What's the purpose of the car? Firestone Firehawks are decent tires, Conti DWSs are good, even Nitto 555s are ok...it all depends on your purpose of the car...are you wanting them to last 40k miles or is 20k ok?
I dont drive the car much 3-5k year at most. The tires will probably dry rot before tread wear. So 20k is ok. Handleing and drive is important, safety is important. Price is close second. Looks is important also. I liked the Eagle's, except for price.
I bought a set of Goodyear Eagle Sports a few months ago and love them. They are quiet and great in the rain. I have them on a 2003 GT Convertible. They have only been on the market about 2 years. Look up the reviews and then decide. Hope this helps.
You might want to spend time on the Mavis site as well. I have found their prices equal to TR and you can actually go there and get them installed instead of having to deal with a third party. And if only for more input on a particular tire. I've used their site for a few vehicles, and even scheduled the appointment for the install online.
And since they are a national chain, you can go to any Mavis and they have the records on your vehicle in the database.
