i would almost just take the transmission for 350 bucks simply because this dealership seems kinda shifty and they might not give you anything better than that.

It does sound like a steel, but the dealership is still full of C$#p, the warrenty starts when you purchase the car period.
Call Ford and tell them what is going on, also ask them what the 350 is for??
Better yet when you go tho the dealership get the service rep to call for and ya'll can all talk and you tell the ford guy what is going on. In the end I bet that you will get it done for free like is should have been done in the first place

i say " stand your ground " so say the dealership receives the car say.....jan of 04 and they don't sell it till july of 04 , does that mean you got the car with a 2 and a half year warranty ?? i call bullshit.... the only reason they are offering you that tranny cheap is cause they know there wrong and want to hush you up. for principle alone i would say fight them. but if you don't have the time i guess you gotta do what ya gotta do . good luck with it.

If I didn't live in Cali I'd come and raise some hell with you. Thats complete BS. Their trying to get out of fixing it like the little weasles that they are at the dealerships. Fight this one, raise hell. You'll get it all fixed.

Oh, and the reason the converter could have broke so early is the granny type driving. I know it sounds dumb but it actually causes more heat/friction but it still shouldn't be enough to do that, that quick.
