Hi there,
I'm one of a few people in Switzerland owning a Mustang GT 2001 Conv Auto.
My questions: When in first gear I think it sounds funny from the motor, something like a whistle which starts slow and goes faster and higher as do the rpm's. When switching to second gear this noise stops.... Somebody told me that the Auto do that and that it's nothing special, but for me a sound that was not there in the beginning and now is, is weird...... Any ideas on that matter?
Thanks for your help.
Pat
I have on 02 GT vert, with an auto, and I too have noticed the same squeel or whistle I guess you could call it when it's in 1st. And just like yours it stops when you shift into second. I went to the dealer on this issue and they said they've never heard anything like it and said that as long as it still drives fine in 1st not to worry bout it. So I dunno but it is so d*** annoying.
Thanks Adam for your reply, now I know at least that I'm not the only one who thinks this is annoying
I really start to think what these dealers are good for.... never heard anything like it..... come on!!! I went to my dealer and he said that he wouldn't know what to do against it do you believe this???
Could it be because of changed oil??? If I recall correctly I would say the noise started shortly after changing my oil I don't know, probably we'll just have to live with this....
Well I don't know wbout the whole changing oil thing. But when I took my car to the track, I noticed after I did my last run (I took it there at 800 miles), when I would shift from first to second at low speeds, It would makes a really wierd sound. But I guess the cars done it the entire time. Maybe I just didn't notice it till then. This guy I work with has a 2001. I drove his, and it does the same thing. Maybe it's just one of those things we gotta live with guys. I wouldn't trip on it till it feels like it rides different.
I have an 02 5 speed. Has anyone noticed that the shift from 1st to 2nd is rough. It almost feels like it doesn't want to go into geat without grinding. The car only has 4800 miles and I haven't done any hard shifts (I guess I baby it too much).
I recently had my tranny rebuilt and a new clutch put in. I started hearing wierd noises right away. The car drives great, but...my throwout bearing is groaning for some reason, so I gotta go back in there. And the point Im trying to make is??? I guess that other than the throwout bearing noise, all the other wierd things just happen sometimes. Although I do have the 1st to 2nd gear thing going on with my car as well, and mine is 97!! It feels like it takes a little extra effort to get into gear and that it almost wants to grind. Weird huh?
Jeff
