99GT 8.8 same as 89 8.8?

Default 99GT 8.8 same as 89 8.8?
Are these rear ends the same except for the bolt patterns? What about width? Can I install the 99 in the 89? Thanks.

the internals are the same but the 99 rear is about 2 inches wider, so the answer is no, it will not fit

The housing and axles are different the gears and differential are the same.
