I have a 2002 GT vert. First off I was wondering about since my car is a conv. do i need different springs than a coupe. Eibach sells springs for a conv. and they are the only ones who seem to do this (of the ones i've seen so far) I've contacted a couple other companies and they said it don't matter if its a vert or coupe. Another q I have is when I do get the springs do I need to get anything else? I've been told I must get C.C plates too? In your guys opinion what do I need?
Get Ford Racing "C" springs from www.gefracing.com and you will be very happy! You don'y need anything but springs at first. Your shocks and struts will wear allittle faster than normal, but I've had mine 2 years and I love them.
Depending on how low you take your car down will determine whether of not you need C/C plates. Stock camber is just not enough when you take your car down, and unless Ford has changed how they set the cars up you are not going to get very much caster adjustment at all. You will have premature tire wear issues as well.

Waiting for install: PI intake.
The only time you should need CC plates is if you drop 2" or more. It would still be a goo idea to get the front end alligned after the install. If you go with the Eibach kit get the Pro-Kit not the sportline kit. I currently have the sportline kit and it is a little too low. Uneven pavement at bridges and parking lot speed bumps are giving me fits.
I would say go with a kit that doesn't drop the suspension lower than 1-1/2" There are a few kits out on the market to choose from. ie: Steeda, H&R, Maximum Motorsports and even FRPP.
I would suggest the eibach pro-kit. They know their stuff. After all, your vert (just like mine) is about 250 lbs heavier than a coupe, so eibach made the vert springs a little more stiff but you get the same 1.5inch drop. You'll be able to get your tires aligned without C/C plates. Anything over 1.5 inches and you will have to seriously consider cc plates.
Just my opinion.
Later,
Jason

I have the Eibach pro-kit and it dropped my car 1.5 inches all the way around, it looks excellent i get a lot of compliments on the stance, everyone loves it and if you look in my gallery you can see what it looks like. Thanks Mark.

For a 02 GT conv. don't get the progressive Eibach kit for a vert. In my
opinion it would be best to go with the Eibach Pro Kit instead because,
of the extra weight that come's with a convertable.About two or three
hundred pound's more not like it is that bad unless you time your car at
the track than that is a issue. The best of luck with installation of the
spring's of your choice.Remeber to get CC plate's and get the spring's
that fit the road condition's were you live.Eibach spring's provide's the
perfect drope coupe or convertable! Hope the turn's out we'll.
I used the Steeda Sport springs and agree with Yuwish on the stance and look of the car afterward. Not to mention how much it tightens up
the cornering and high speed stability. I didn't require the c/c plates for
my application either.

C & L: 80mm mass-air kit
Superchip: Dyno custom burn

I have the Eibach pro springs on my '02 vert. It dropped the car about 1 1/2 inches. I did NOT need CC plates. Just be sure to get an alignment immediatly.
I just had my 2001 GT Convertible lowered with Steeda Sport Springs and Tokico HP struts and shocks. I waited about a week after having it lowered to have it aligned. They got it back in specification with no problems. Steeda said that the kit for the coupes and 'verts were the same. Haven't noticed any ill effects. It looks and handles great!
