Default 1999 Mustang Ported Cobra Intake

I have been offered a ported upper and lower 99 cobra intake for my car. The guy wants $400 I don't know how much it would cost just to have mine done so that's why I'm posting this to ask if it is a decent price for it or not? If not, around how much to port my intake I already have and where would you suggest going for it? Thanks for any suggestions.

When it was ported, did they cut it and port the lower half of the runners, and TIG weld back together, or was it half a$$ed?

If it was properly ported, you are looknig at 450-600 in labor.

He said it was ported by Xtreme Velocity Intakes. Heard anything (good or bad) about them?

I've never heard of them, so I couldn't tell you.

The only way to port these intakes is to cut them open and weld back together. The #1 and #7 runners have a bad port shape that takes countless hours to work out. I've posted pictures of some work I did to one, and I had over 100 hours of labor into it on a flowbench to get it right.

Ill ask him and see if he knows and let you know. But if it was done right, probably not a bad deal?

If it was done properly, it is a good deal, considering he is selling the intake and the labor for the price of what it would cost you to have yours done. You can sell your complete intake for ~500 to make it a free mod (granted it's a legitimate intake).

He says he doesnt really know how it was done. He couldnt see signs of it being cut and welded. Are there any obvious signs to look for?

You will know if it was cut open, the welds will be plenty obvious. IF you can't see them, it wasn't done properly.

Well then I guess Ill just pass on it and have mine ported eventually. Or better yet just replace it with a KB setup. Maybe one day I'll actually make enough money to do it, of course my car will probably be an antique by then lol.
