Default 2003 Mustang GT, Alarm prevents engine from starting.

My battery went dead for some time on my 03 GT. Now, battery is fully charged but starter is not engaing. Which is a major disatavantage :-(
The Theft lamp is flashing when ingnition is turned on, can not remember if it used to do that or not.
Other symptoms, after trying to start enginge there is a rappid click or tick from the right side in the engine compartment.

It is a factory installed alarm, with a add on (probably ford not sure, a little box under dash with a flipswitch under stearing collumn, as well as a red flashing lamp on the dash)

Wish someone could help me think what could be the reason..
Is there a "alarm reset" function that is needed when battery has been dead?
Saw a post on the key RF id tag needed to be reprogrammed?

Aalrm is good, but this is too much, not being able to start your own car creates roumors in the "hood".
Thanks for any help from you gurus out there.

Don't know specifically what's going on, but any of these threads might help you.

I know I gave the same advice basically in all the threads, but perhaps something someone else wrote is in those that helps you out.

Red face Not affraid to admit my own stupidity!

Well this is a note of that good things happes to dumb people, or whatever the saying is.
The GT in my garage is my nephew's, I am merely the caretaker right now. It will be shipped from California to Sweden eventually.
So I am not used to stick shifters, I sense you have a answer right now dont you?

Well the matter of the fact is that in order to start a Ford, you have to depress the clutch and then turn da freaking key!

If clutch not pressed the stupid car acts like it being molested or stolen.

There you have it, the laugh is on me.

And thats OK since all your very godd links as suggestions all invoved Moneys! Which I hate to spend!

Thanks for your help and patience

Umm... Actually, I figured that out the first day I got it. It was parked, someone wanted to hear the engine, put it in neutral, popped the key... and nothing...

Still... Not a solution you think of right off the bat tho. Good to hear it got solved

Yep, clutch safety switches are made for those of us not smart enough know better than starting the car with it in gear.
